The US posted 10.6 million job openings on the last business day of November, a decline of 6.6% from the previous month. SPY is up +0.24%, DXY is down -0.16%.
- Job openings fell the largest in accommodation and food services at 261,000, followed by construction at 110,000. The openings rose in finance and insurance at 83,000, while 25,000 jobs were opened in the federal government.
- Hires remained unchanged at 6.7 million, while the separations rose to 6.3 million. Quits rate accelerated to 3.0%, the same as September’s series high.
- The rate of layoffs and discharges was unchanged at 0.9%.
- In the year that ended November, the total hires were 74.5 million, while separations were 68.7 million, resulting in a net job gain of 5.9 million.
