Rockefeller Capital Management is expanding its wealth management division with the addition of a team of top advisors based in New York. Led by Angela Mwanza, the six-person practice, now known as Oryx Legacy Partners, was previously affiliated with UBS and operated under the name Evergreen Wealth Management.
Angela Mwanza, originally from Zambia, brings a wealth of experience to the team. She served as a private wealth advisor and family office consultant at UBS, having joined the firm in 2008. Prior to that, Mwanza held positions as a private banker at Lehman Brothers and Fleet Private Client Services. Her career began at J.P. Morgan Private Bank in 2001.
Joining Mwanza at Rockefeller is her partner, Jordan Powell, who is also making the move from UBS. Powell boasts over 13 years of experience in wealth management, as verified by BrokerCheck, the database of brokers monitored by industry self-regulator Finra. He joined UBS Private Wealth Management in 2014 after serving as a vice president in global equities, commodities, and derivatives at BNP Paribas.
With the addition of Mwanza and Powell, Rockefeller Capital Management is further enhancing its capabilities and expanding its expertise in serving high-net-worth individuals and families.
The Oryx Team Joins Rockefeller’s Wealth Management Firm
The highly skilled Oryx team has recently joined Rockefeller, a renowned wealth management firm. Led by Angela Oryx, the team includes Mimi Kuo-Chin Shih—an experienced advisor with nine years of industry expertise at UBS and CIBC Wood Gundy in Vancouver, Canada. Shih specialized in providing valuable guidance to high-net-worth individuals on tax advantaged investing, nonresident investing, and structured products.
In addition to Shih, the Oryx team consists of Wenyi “Jason” Wang and Przemyslaw “Shem” Filipek—their wealth managers—and Allissa Purkey, a senior client associate. Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to Rockefeller.
Rockefeller has established itself as a fast-growing wealth management firm, successfully recruiting top advisors and teams from its larger wirehouse rivals. For instance, in May, they acquired a five-person Merrill Lynch team that managed over $750 million in assets.
“We are delighted to welcome Angela and her team to Rockefeller. They are widely respected in the industry as purpose-driven wealth management professionals,” states Christopher Dupuy, co-head of Rockefeller’s wealth management division, Rockefeller Global Family Office.
Michael Outlaw, the national field director of Rockefeller Global Family Office, adds, “The team’s extensive experience in assisting business owners, investors, and families navigate the complexities of wealth further enhances our ability to attract and serve clients not only in the New York Metro region but also beyond.”
UBS, when approached for comment, did not respond.
