Hyundai Motor America is taking action to prevent car theft by hosting five clinics where customers can install free software. This software aims to combat a method of theft that gained popularity through social media platforms.
Persistent Problem Requires Multi-Day Clinics
In February, the automaker released a software fix to address the widespread vehicle thefts. However, despite the initial launch, the problem continued to persist. To combat this, Hyundai will be organizing five multi-day clinics across different locations, including New York City, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Minn, and Rochester, N.Y.
Regional Clinics Planned for the Future
In addition to the multi-day clinics, Hyundai has announced its intention to host one-day regional clinics before the end of the year. These clinics aim to provide even more opportunities for customers to install the software and protect their vehicles.
Over a Million Vehicles Benefitting from New Software
Hyundai reports that over a million vehicles have already installed the new software. This software is specifically designed to prevent the starting of vehicles with turn-key ignition systems if they have been broken into. The installation process itself takes less than 30 minutes.
The effort by Hyundai Motor America to combat car theft serves as a testament to their commitment to customer safety. By offering these clinics and free software installations, Hyundai aims to provide peace of mind to their valued customers.
