Construction output in both the euro area and the European Union continued to grow in June, but slowed to the lowest in three months.
- Total construction in the euro area grew by 2.8%, down from 12.2% in May. This is the fourth straight month of growth but the weakest since April’s 45.6%.
- Building works expanded by 3.1%, while civil engineering works climbed by 2.2%.
- Second-quarter total construction climbed 16.5%, building works by 17.1%, and civil engineering by 12.9%.
- Total construction in the European Union increased by 3.5%. This is the fourth straight month of expansion but the weakest since April’s 35.7%.
- Building works gained 3.8%, while civil engineering works jumped 2.6%.
- Second-quarter total construction grew 10.4%, building by 14.7%, and civil engineering by 10.4%.
- The highest annual increases were seen in Hungary, Romania, and Austria.
- Declines were recorded in Spain, Germany, and Belgium.
