Euro area posted a current account surplus of 23 billion euros in December 2021, below 24 billion euros recorded the previous month. DAX is down -0.14%, EURUSD is up +0.07%.

- Services surplus in December were recorded at 18 billion euros, while goods surplus was 11 billion euros. Primary income had a 7 billion euros surplus, while secondary income had a deficit of 14 billion euros.
- In December, euro area residents acquired non-euro area portfolio investment securities of 752 billion euros. Non-residents acquired euro area investment securities of 240 billion euros in the same month.
- For the full year 2021, current account surplus in the euro area was 310 billion euros, an increase from 213 billion euros in 2020.
