Euro Area and the EU Record Decline in Economic Sentiment and Employment Expectations

Both the economic sentiment and employment expectations in the Euro area and EU fell in January 2021, according to the European Commission press release. Economic Sentiment Indicator (ESI) fell by 0.9 points to 91.5 in the euro area in January 2021.

• The Economic Sentiment Indicator edged lower by 0.6 points to 91.2 in the European Union.
• The Employment Expectations Indicator (EEI) fell by 1.6 points to 88.8 in the euro area.
• The Employment Expectations Indicator also shed 1.3 points in the European Union to a lower level of 90.0.

European stocks and the Euro are currently declining. DAX is down 0.69%, EURUSD is down 0.13%.
